Ontario's regulated iGaming market posted $400.6 million in gross gaming revenue for June 2026 — a 30.6% year-over-year increase from $306.8 million in June 2025. It marks the fourth time in 2026 that monthly GGR has cleared the $400 million threshold, cementing Ontario as one of the highest-yielding regulated iGaming markets in North America.

Players wagered $9.458 billion across Ontario's licensed platforms during June, up 30.3% from $7.26 billion a year earlier. Sports betting received a substantial lift from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, pushing the monthly sports handle past $1 billion for the first time in Ontario's history. With 48 licensed operators now active across 83 websites — and Fanatics preparing its own Ontario entry — competition for Ontario players is entering a new phase.

Ontario iGaming June 2026 by the Numbers

iGaming Ontario's official June 2026 market performance report breaks down across three verticals:

  • Total GGR: $400.6 million (+30.6% YoY)
  • Total player wagers: $9.458 billion (+30.3% YoY)
  • Online casino revenue: $316.8 million (+30.4% YoY) on $8.30 billion in wagers
  • Sports betting revenue: $78.6 million (+34.4% YoY) on a $1.033 billion handle
  • Poker revenue: $5.2 million on $126 million wagered
  • Active registered player accounts: 1.319 million (~30% YoY growth)

June's $400.6 million came in roughly 3% below May's $413 million — itself a record at the time of release. Ontario's all-time single-month GGR record remains December 2025 at $425.6 million. Cumulative provincial tax receipts from the regulated market have now surpassed $2.5 billion since launch in April 2022.

Sports Betting: The World Cup Effect

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, was a material driver for Ontario's sports betting vertical in June. The monthly sports handle crossing $1.033 billion is a first for the province — and sports betting's 34.4% YoY revenue growth outpaced the broader market's 30.3% wager growth, reflecting elevated event demand.

Ontario's regulated sports betting handle had averaged approximately $700–800 million per month in the preceding months of 2026. The World Cup crossing that figure to $1 billion is both a one-off event benefit and a structural signal: as the player base expands toward and beyond the 1.3 million active account mark, major sporting events carry more aggregate betting volume than at any point in the market's four-year history.

Four Years of Growth: Context and Records

Ontario's private-operator market launched in April 2022. The regulated market's channelization rate — the share of Ontario online gamblers playing on licensed platforms — now stands at 91.1%, up 7.4 percentage points year-over-year. Year 1 GGR was approximately $1.2–1.4 billion; the market is now tracking above $4.2 billion annualised based on 2026 monthly rates.

Period Monthly GGR YoY Growth Monthly Handle
June 2025 $306.8 million $7.26 billion
March 2026 (all-time handle record) ~$410 million ~31% YoY $9.59 billion
May 2026 $413 million ~32% YoY ~$9.5 billion
June 2026 $400.6 million +30.6% YoY $9.458 billion
Dec 2025 (all-time GGR record) $425.6 million

Operator Landscape and New Entrants

Ontario's 48 licensed operators running 83 active gaming sites make it the most densely populated regulated market in Canada. Three notable new entrants have arrived or are imminent:

  • Fanatics Betting & Gaming — received AGCO registration on August 11, 2026; its sportsbook and casino are expected live in Ontario within weeks. Fanatics currently operates in 23 U.S. states and Washington D.C. for sports betting.
  • Hard Rock Bet — recently launched its Ontario online casino and sportsbook product, adding another global brand to the roster.
  • DAZN Bet — launched in Ontario on June 30, 2026, bundling its sports streaming platform with an integrated betting product via Altenar technology.

Fanatics is the headline arrival for operators and bettors alike. Its loyalty program — tied to Fanatics merchandise, sports content, and an existing U.S. customer base — gives it a differentiated acquisition angle in a market where incumbents compete primarily on odds, promotions, and app experience.

What It Means for Operators and Bettors

For operators, Ontario's sustained 30%+ YoY trajectory in both revenue and handle makes it one of the few regulated markets globally that justifies continued heavy investment. The 91.1% channelization rate means the grey-market pool to capture is now relatively thin — growth must increasingly come from expanding the total player base and lifting revenue per active account, currently averaging $304 per month.

For bettors, the density of competition — 48 operators, 83 sites — and the arrival of Fanatics will keep acquisition offers and loyalty rewards competitive through the rest of 2026. The BetGuard cross-operator self-exclusion system, which launched in May 2026, also means responsible gambling tools are more portable across the regulated ecosystem than in any prior period.

The cumulative tax total passing $2.5 billion since the April 2022 launch is the clearest measure of what Ontario's regulated model has delivered to government — a figure that provinces assessing their own frameworks, including the newly launched Alberta market, will be citing in their own policy conversations.
